When people cope with alienation and isolation, others often call them out on it and say, "just get over it," but often, they can't and it makes them feel as if their struggles don't matter. Society often casts out anyone who doesn't fit the definition of "normal." The problem with this is there's no set definition for "normal," normal for me would be strange someone else and their normal would be strange for me. This coincides with what society tries to portray as "normal." Usually "normal" for girls is short with long flowing hair and unnaturally thin, while boys are told to be "manly" and muscular and tall. these are unrealistic for most of the population, due to the fact that everybody's body is different. Also, the 2 main "personality groups," introverts and extroverts, are favored differently. in the education system right now, they are putting more focus on group discussion and group activities. this works well with extroverts, but it hurts introverts. they don't realize that not everyone is an extrovert. introverts can create the illusion of being an extrovert, but they need a rest, or "turn off" for a while or they wind up exhausted and "burned out." This also affects teachers that are more introverted. They have to keep the illusion of being extroverted for longer which causes them to "burn out" sooner.
When people think about power, they usually think of the multi-billionaire who "buys" senators, representatives, and often they use their power and wealth to get more wealth and power. this is shown best by today's political climate and Trump. Trump has a massive amount of power and wealth and influence because of the money and power. But this is not enough for him, he wants, essentially, the highest position of power in the US, the President's office. And because he has all of that power, he can "fool" the public and the press into thinking that he actually has a IQ/brain and he actually uses it. But if you pay attention, and watch how he reacts to someone asking a question that actually requires thought, you will see that he doesn't have the amount of smarts as the rest of the population, and that is looking on the bright side, he probably doesn't have the intelligence to run a anything, let alone a country. The initial paranoia of Salem and witchcraft/Islam in today's society, has pretty much died down. But the fear is still there and often it boils when people "dare" to challenge the court of the political structure, or even the decisions that people in power make. often these people are shunned and they feel like they don't matter. more often, their voices are often drowned out in the chaos and turmoil of the time along with the paranoia. John Proctor fits into this picture because he is trying to stop the court from going off of the girls and using spectral evidence to convict people of witchcraft, ruining his name in the process. this fits into today's political climate with LGBT people, the muslim population, racism, women, and pretty much anyone who is different than the " rich white guy" that is most of the politicians. they seem to be kindergarteners in adult bodies and they have a lot of money, and they don't want to share anything but keep gaining more. often the ones that are mature and actually care about keeping the country running are in minority, their voices drowned out by the crowd of the "kindergarteners" or they just don't have enough influence(money) to make any difference or be heard. this analogy is based on the assumption that the politicians actually use their brains or have them in the first place. Currently Trump is the main leader of this. I'm pretty sure that part of the country wants Trump to lose, and is scared of what will happen if he wins. |
